Hair Masks & Deep Conditioners — frequently asked questions

How often should I use a hair mask?
Once or twice a week for most hair; fine hair may only need it every two weeks, while very dry or bleached hair can take a mask after every wash. Apply mid-lengths to ends and leave for the time on the pack.
Mask before or after shampoo?
Shampoo first so the hair is clean and the cuticle is open, squeeze out excess water, then apply the mask. Rinse with cooler water to seal the cuticle and add shine.
Can a hair mask replace conditioner?
On mask days, yes. A deep conditioner does the job of a regular conditioner plus extra repair, so you do not need both in the same wash.
